In the fall of 2024, the SUB project of Eastern Lapland organized its first two training workshops. These workshops, designed for tourism businesses in Eastern Lapland and project partners, focus on enhancing business capabilities while considering the unique dynamics of cycling tourism. The themes of the workshops are based on the needs identified in the Think Tank report previously published by the SUB project. The goal is to deepen entrepreneurs' understanding of the particularities of cycling tourism and help them design services that cater to the needs of cycling tourists. The main themes include networks, service design for cycling tourism products, digital sales readiness, and the prerequisites for sustainable development.

The first session focused on customer profiling and business collaboration. Participants explored different types of (cycling) tourism customers, their purchasing behavior, and the importance of service networks in enhancing the customer experience. The second workshop focused on the basic principles of travel service design. Entrepreneurs had the opportunity to build and develop their own products, both independently and with the help of experts.

Local workshops will continue at the beginning of 2025, followed by new international workshops. The workshops are facilitated by Exove Design with support from the local team of the SUB project.
