In a bid to enhance literary and cultural tourism in the  Tórshavn municipality, Visit Tórshavn has embarked on a ground-breaking journey by becoming a key participant in the EU-funded project N-LITE. This initiative aims to leverage innovative technology to enrich the tourism experience on-site.

Recently, Visit Tórshavn, in collaboration with Finland's Kajaani University of Applied Sciences (KAMK), organised a workshop in the capital to kickstart this endeavour. N-LITE, which stands for Literary Tourism Immersive Technology Acceleration, seeks to integrate cutting-edge digital products into the realm of cultural tourism.

The workshop brought together stakeholders from various sectors including culture, literature, youth, and tourism within the Tórshavn municipality. Its objective was twofold: to introduce participants to immersive technology and to explore its potential integration with literary tourism. Immersive technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality were among the focal points of discussion.

Leading the charge for the Faroese segment of the project is Annika Lisberg, Visit Tórshavn's newly appointed destination development coordinator. With a master's degree in tourism from Aalborg University and extensive experience in the tourism industry spanning the Faroe Islands and Denmark, Annika brings a wealth of knowledge to the table. Noteworthy is her expertise in green certifications, an area of interest that Visit Tórshavn is keen to prioritise.
