INNOCAP project partners have virtually met for the first of the three online sessions to learn more on the possibilities that disruptive technologies can offer to support innovative public services. The first workshop has brought into the spotlight 'Online Collaboration and Engagement: 2D/3D + Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) guidance technologies'.

The workshop has provided a quick overview of the tools and their capabilities to spin a further discussion that will ultimately feed into the Capacity Building Programme, that will be developed within the INNOCAP project. "The purpose of this session is to broaden the discussion among the partnership, and better understand partner needs to increase awareness of what is possible", explains INNOCAP project partner Lukasz Porwol, from the Insight Centre for Data Analytics - University of Galway (Ireland).

INNOCAP project partner from Insight Centre Dr Fatemeh Ahmadi Zeleti, pointed out that, in order to build public sector's innovation capacity, "engagement is needed" to provide enhanced quality and sustainable public services through disruptive technologies. Nonetheless, the engagement "always needs efficient communication and interactivity." Following up with this premise, partners were briefed with a range of different tools and solutions including: 2D communication tools such as Discord; 3D / VR tools like Hubs by Mozilla or Spatial; AR solution ARway, 3D scanning from Polycam, 360 videos solutions like Kuula or Apple Roomplan API to create 3D plans. "Metaverse is coming", stated Lukasz, and INNOCAP project partners are getting ready to enable public sector organisations to lead the adoption of disruptive innovations and digital technologies.

Stay tuned! The second workshop will take place on the 9th of May to discuss on the use of Geographic Information System (GIS), Data Integration and Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbots.
