About the project

Did you know that heritage organisations are key actors in climate dialogue to inspire behavioral changes and action? DACCHE brings together five partners from three countries dedicated to the preservation and renewal of important heritage sites.

Our aim

To empower local communities by building their capacity to understand, respond, communicate, and facilitate mitigation of the impacts of climate change and green transition on cultural landscapes and heritage sites. This involves using a citizen engagement approach, as well as visualising local impacts on sites, landscapes, artifacts, and intangible practices through transmedia storytelling and digital solutions.

Project motivation

The NPA region is particularly vulnerable to climate change due to its heavy reliance on nature, proximity to the Arctic, and fragile local economies and poses a threat to cultural heritage, including landscapes and traditions. The importance of preserving and renewing is a strong motivator for action, and heritage plays a crucial role in encouraging people to engage in action.

Target Group

Our focus at DACCHE is to establish a dialogue and collaborate with people and organisations in the NPA regions, with a special emphasis on youth. We aim to engage with diverse entities, including regional and national public authorities, sectoral agencies, interest groups (including NGOs), higher education and research organizations, education/training centers and schools, SMEs, and business support organizations. If you're part of any of these groups and have questions or ideas, feel free to get in touch!

The museum also holds a responsibility to work throughout the entire region, for all building activities, renovation projects, etc., in the region that concerns historical buildings or sites, the museum's antiquarians are consulted. Through the years, Jamtli has built a lot of knowledge and know-how regarding dangers and threats that affect the heritage of the region. The museum has collaborated closely with the Swedish National Heritage Board and the South Sámi organization Gaaltije. Issues connected to climate change and cultural heritage have become increasingly urgent to deal with, and there is a need to raise both awareness and engagement to meet these challenges in the best possible way.
