The second deliverable report of Work Package 1, titled “Fishing gear report: Review on quantities and qualities of fishing gear in the NPA area”, has now been published. The aim in WP1 is to create an overall picture of the current status of end-of-life fishing gear: how much fishing gear waste is created and how it is collected. The report D.1.2.1 provides an assessment of the quantities and qualities of fishing gear in use in the NPA area, which is needed to know if the gear is to be recycled. The report looks into the material composition of fishing gear, manufacturers and importers of fishing gear in NPA countries, the quantities and qualities of fishing gear put on the market and in use in the NPA region and brings all this together for a material flow analysis.
