Region Västerbotten presented ASTRIC to more regional developers at a learning session on March 13, 2025.

First we presented the tool METRIC and then how we have fast demostrated it in ASTRIC.

We also shared info how similar baseline we have with Savonia, Finland and Western Ireland with our innovation ecosystems and a few differences: Please read more about that here

Participants sat in smaller groups and discussed the approach of measuring how the engine in an innovation ecosystem works and what might be missing to attract talent. Many wise points of view were shared, and we continue to work on Work Package 1 and Work Package 2 in ASTRIC, taking these insights with us to our journey when we meet the entire project group in Cork, Ireland next week.

In summary, we can conclude from the learning session that there is great value in measuring regional data, but it does not create any value until we gather and analyze what it means and use it to confirm something or move something forward or perhaps even influence work.

This workshop is part of ASTRIC because it helps build the capacity to evaluate regional innovation ecosystems and identify areas for improvement.

The ASTRIC project aims to strengthen the organizational capacity among NPA communities to leverage collaboration opportunities. By developing and adapting the METRIC tool to measure innovation capacity, the project will help regions understand and improve their innovation ecosystems, which in turn attracts the talent and skills needed to achieve a green and just transition.
