This week marked a significant milestone for the Arctic Edge project as our partners gathered for the first in-person meeting since the project’s launch. Hosted by the Advancing Innovation in Manufacturing (AIM) Centre in North-West Ireland, we brought together our project partners for a fantastic two-days of discussions and team-bonding.

Day 1: Welcome to Sligo and Tour of AIM Centre’s Lab

The meeting kicked off in Sligo, Ireland, where AIM Centre warmly welcomed partners to explore its state-of-the-art lab and facilities. This tour offered everyone an inside look at the innovative resources and capabilities available for Arctic Edge. Seeing the setup firsthand set a collaborative tone that will be essential as we push the boundaries of this project. The team also sat to discuss possible use cases of the projects as well as the technical aspects that will be used to develop the project.

A Taste of Local Culture at The Shed Distillery

In the afternoon, our group traveled to The Shed Distillery of PJ Rigney in Drumshanbo, Leitrim, for a unique team-bonding experience. Here, partners enjoyed an immersive whiskey and gin tasting tour, blending the rich local culture with a spirit of camaraderie that left everyone feeling connected and energised. This cultural interlude proved to be a perfect icebreaker for our international team, setting the stage for more meaningful collaboration.

Day 2: A Visit to Future Mobility Ireland in Shannon

The excitement continued the next day as we visited Future Mobility Ireland’s campus in Shannon. Guided by Wassim Derguech and his talented team, we had the privilege of learning about the latest in autonomous and electric vehicle technologies that are reshaping transportation. This tour opened our eyes to how Arctic Edge can incorporate cutting-edge mobility solutions and brought fresh inspiration to everyone involved.

The two-day event was filled with inspiration, insight, and team-building moments that have left our partners more aligned than ever. The first in-person meeting allowed us to solidify our shared vision and commitment, creating the groundwork for a successful journey ahead.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to our partners and local hosts for making this kickoff such a memorable success. We’re excited to build on this momentum and drive forward with Arctic Edge!
