ARCTIC EDGE

Supply Chain Integration for Interoperability & Enhanced Resilience of SMEs in remote regions

What we do

The Arctic Edge project aims to strengthen supply chain operations in the NPA Region, addressing regional challenges. It will develop and implement a cloud-based, IoT, and MQTT technology-driven solution for rural manufacturing NPA SMEs, aiming to optimise supply chain processes. The project seeks to revolutionise supply chain practices within the NPA region by introducing innovative technologies and promoting their widespread application, particularly among rural manufacturing SMEs. While existing technologies are available, their adoption, especially in SMEs' supply chains, remains limited. Arctic Edge's objective is to enhance efficiency, resilience, and adaptability in SMEs' supply chain operations, fostering a mental shift towards digital adoption. Digital tools for more resilient rural SMEs

The main goal of Arctic Edge is to help rural manufacturing SMEs move from traditional methods to modern digital systems. This will make their supply chains more connected, cost-effective, and efficient, helping them operate more smoothly and resiliently.

By facilitating the adoption of a broker driven ecosystem the project opens the world of data interoperability for rural SMEs which is pivotal for scalability in the AI and Machine Learning era and creating capacity for European Data Space interconnectivity.

Connecting the supply chain systems

The manufacturing sector's supply chains are fragmented, with 50% of companies reporting their procurement systems as "not connected" and reliant on spreadsheets and emails, while 30% described only limited connectivity.

The goal of Artic Edge is a connected supply chain system within and between organisations (customers and suppliers). This will be achieved through the development and implementation of an innovative, cloud-based data exchange architecture, integrated with IoT and MQTT technology.

Pioneering digital beacons

To demonstrate how this technology works, how to integrate it, what are the typical challenges and to explain the business benefits, the project is working with pioneering digital beacons to provide real life experiences shared widely with the general public through video footage, tutorials & speakers.

Free tech support for SMEs

A tech clinic for NPA organisations will be available in Ireland, Sweden and Finland to support 26 SME’s in Norway, Greenland, Iceland & Faroe. The clinic will provide expertise through one-on-one video or in-person site visits for 26 SME’s. Support in developing digital architecture, use of data (AI), cybersecurity & non technical solution at the clinic is provided for free.
