Interreg Arctic Cooperation

Combining Interreg resources and skills to get the best results for Arctic communities.

About us

The Interreg Arctic Cooperation is a partnership between the Interreg Aurora and Interreg NPA programmes designed to enhance visibility, improve coordination, and create synergies that each programme alone could not achieve. The Interreg Arctic Cooperation aims to share best practices, pool resources, and connect stakeholders for more effective collaboration in Arctic regions and communities. Building on the successes and experience of the Arctic Cooperation initiative launched in 2016, the Interreg Arctic Cooperation continues to integrate a territorial cooperation dimension into the EU Arctic Policy. You can participate in a clustering call

In the autumn of 2025 Interreg NPA and Interreg Aurora are going to launch a joint call for Clustering projects. Clustering projects are expected to give a higher profile to topics relevant to people living in the Arctic and contribute to the practical implementation of the EU Arctic Policy in communities.

Clustering call

What will the Interreg Arctic Cooperation do?

Interreg NPA and Interreg Aurora will jointly: - Participate in joint initiatives and collaborate at Arctic events. - Organise Clustering calls to foster synergies and cooperation among Arctic and near-Arctic stakeholders and projects, bridging the two Arctic Interreg programmes. - Raise awareness of the programmes' role within the EU Arctic Policy. - Enhance coordination and exchange at the programme management level to provide even better support to our beneficiaries.

The history of Arctic Cooperation

Since 2016, the Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme has been part of a network of EU cooperation programmes operating in the European Arctic: the Arctic Cooperation. This cross-programme cooperation was encouraged and mandated by the European Commission and included the cross-border programmes Interreg Nord and Interreg Botnia-Atlantica, as well as the European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI) cross-border programmes Kolarctic and Karelia, in addition to the NPA programme.
