Interreg Arctic Cooperation is back in action!
Combining the resources and expertise of Interreg Aurora and Interreg NPA to achieve the best outcomes for Arctic communities.
Building on the success of the Arctic Cooperation initiative launched in 2016, the Interreg Arctic Cooperation continues to share best practices, pool resources, and connect stakeholders for more effective collaboration in Arctic regions.
The current partnership between Interreg Aurora and Interreg NPA enhances visibility, improves coordination, and creates synergies that each programme alone could not achieve.
More joint events and new funding opportunities are on the horizon. Check out what's in the pipeline below and stay updated by following our websites and hashtags: #InterregArcticCooperation.
You can participate in a clustering call
In the autumn of 2025 Interreg NPA and Interreg Aurora are going to launch a joint call for Clustering projects.
Clustering projects are expected to give a higher profile to topics relevant to people living in the Arctic and contribute to the practical implementation of the EU Arctic Policy in communities.
The two Interreg Arctic Programmes will coordinate the call for applications, this means that there will be frequent joint events and a close collaboration between the programmes during project development and assessment. However, please note that Specific Terms of reference apply for each programme.
Read more about this call on the programmes’ webpage: Interreg Aurora, or Interreg NPA.
What is in the pipeline?
Starting this autumn, Interreg Arctic Cooperation will more directly target beneficiaries. Several joint events are planned for the season, including a joint clustering call. Take a look at the upcoming events and save the dates!
At the Interreg Cooperation Day event, "Open Doors at Centria" in Kokkola on October 10th, you will meet several Interreg project teams and staff from both the Aurora and NPA Secretariats.
This event offers the chance to explore cutting-edge research, see Interreg project results, and attend expert talks on the circular economy and artificial intelligence.

Next up, communication managers from Aurora and NPA projects are invited to an online meeting.
The focus will be on sharing project experiences, exchanging best practices, and improving cross-border collaboration while effectively reaching local audiences.
Stay tuned for Interreg Arctic Cooperation invitations to the joint communication webinar.
Projects funded by either programme during the 2021-2027 period have the opportunity to collaborate in a clustering project. This aims to enhance outputs, achieve better results, and increase outreach for disseminating outcomes from both programmes.
The call for Clustering projects will launch in January, followed by several targeted online events to support project and partnership development. Applications can be submitted between September 2nd and October 8th, 2025.
Lead Partners of Interreg Aurora and Interreg NPA projects are invited to meet in person to get to know the projects and find the right partners for developing the best clustering projects.
More information will follow in due course.

What have we done so far?
Since 2021, Aurora and NPA staff have carried out several joint activities to boost coordination and knowledge exchange at the programme management level.
One example is the sustainability masterclass, aimed at providing better support to beneficiaries in meeting Horizontal Principles and Sustainable Development Goals.
Our programmes were also jointly represented at the EU Arctic Forum and the Indigenous Peoples event in May, Brussels.
