Interreg NPA attended the EU Polar Science Week

The 2nd European Polar Science Week is taking place from 3 to 6 September, 2024, in Copenhagen.

Date
03.09.2024

The overall objective of the European Polar Science Week is to bring together the European polar science community and reinforce European cooperation for polar science.

During this week, key scientists and stakeholders of polar science will have the opportunity to discuss the major challenges and opportunities in front of us, promote networking and collaboration across projects and activities advancing the EC-ESA Polar research cooperation.

The European Polar Science Week is organised by the European Space Agency and the European Commission together with REA (Research Executive Agency), CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency) and EPB (European Polar Board), as well as EU-PolarNet.

The European Polar Science Week will contribute to the implementation of several major policy initiatives and global assessments.

Interreg NPA is proud to attend the EU Polar Science Week!

Polar regions play a key role in understanding climate change, biodiversity, and  resilience, experiencing rapid warming with significant impacts on ecosystems and communities.

Through transnational cooperation, Interreg NPA supports communities in Northern Europe and the Arctic turn ideas into sustainable solutions. Since 2014, our projects have involved over 180 research organisations, driving innovation and greener, climate-resilient communities.

For example, the SCITOUR project is developing niche tourism that blends both scientific and experience-based knowledge. In this way indigenous communities are part of the SCITOUR offer and preserve cultural and traditional practices while enhancing their local tourism economy.

The Ar2CorD project focuses on optimising low-carbon concrete to withstand the freeze-thaw cycles in Arctic conditions, reducing the carbon footprint of concrete.
